Protecting Democracy
We can’t have a healthy environment without a healthy democracy, and we can’t have a healthy democracy without protecting the right to vote. It’s important that Congressional leaders champion pro-democracy legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, DC Statehood, and more. We must ensure all eligible voters are able to register, vote, and have their vote counted; to fully fund and secure our critical election infrastructure; to combat voter suppression and gerrymandering; and to reduce the corrosive influence of big polluter money in politics. In addition, we need pro-democracy, pro-environment courts for government ethics and for other reforms to protect the people’s right to a government of, by, and for the people.
