Public Lands, Oceans & Waterways
The decline of nature is a direct threat to the nation’s wildlife, clean air and water, the ability to fight climate change, and a healthy economy. Among the best ways of solving this nature crisis — and ensuring that all people in this country have equitable access to nature — is to conserve more land and water in a natural state. We must protect 30% of America’s lands and waters by 2030 – our part in a global, science-backed effort to protect 30% of Earth’s land and ocean by 2030, dubbed 30×30. We can protect ecologically and culturally important lands and waters through monuments, marine sanctuaries, and other designations. Public lands play an important role in addressing the climate crisis and leading the fight towards a clean energy future. By protecting our public lands and oceans, we can ensure an accessible, sustainable environment for all.
