Candidate Background

Representative Jim Himes is running for a ninth term to represent Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District. Himes previously worked in the private sector. In elected office, he is the author of multiple bills aimed at promoting efficiency retrofits and the use of renewable energy in residential areas, and a cosponsor of two other bills which create tax incentives for wind electricity and solar and fuel cells. Himes has also secured funding to clean up hazardous waste sites and improve water quality in Connecticut and has supported conservation of the Long Island Sound. In Congress, Himes will continue to advocate for renewable energy and speak out against attacks on environmental laws. Representative Himes has earned a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
