CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Jared Huffman is running for a seventh term to represent California’s 2nd Congressional District. Huffman previously served in the state Assembly and as a senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council. In the Assembly, he authored and passed bills to protect oceans and water quality and implement clean energy alternatives. In Congress, Huffman has joined the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and the Safe Climate Caucus and will continue to advance legislation to expand the California Coastal National Monument, to address California’s water crisis, and to move from dirty fossil fuels to clean energy and combat climate change. Huffman has fought to secure federal disaster relief funds for fire victims in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties and has defended the historic dam removal process on the Klamath River. In Congress, Huffman will continue to be a climate ally. Representative Huffman has earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
