Clean Air & Public Health

Study after study continues to confirm longstanding common sense and science —burning fossil fuels and other polluting industries produce air pollution that causes health problems like asthma, heart attacks, cancer, developmental delays, and even premature death. Communities of low wealth and communities of color are disproportionately exposed to those health harming pollutants and suffer from the associated negative health effects. It is critical that as our understanding of the health impacts and the environmental injustice associated with these pollutants advances, the federal government and legislative actions correspondingly protect the communities, groups, and life stages most exposed or harmed by the pollutants.
