CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Lindsey Prather is running for a second term representing North Carolina’s 115th House District. She was first elected in 2022, becoming the youngest woman currently serving in the NC General Assembly. As a Representative, Prather has worked to protect the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina from harmful rollbacks of environmental protections. She sponsored legislation to regulate PFAS and other carcinogens in drinking water, and to invest in North Carolina’s growing clean energy sector. Prather has also fought back against efforts to open up 2.5 million acres of North Carolina wetlands to development. In recognition of her 100% lifetime score, she received the 2024 Rising Star award from the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters. Prather has also led the effort to fully fund public education and protect reproductive rights, including the right to contraception and IVF.
