CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Joe Kerr is running to represent California’s 40th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a retired 34-year firefighter captain and longtime California labor leader. As a former firefighter he will bring much needed experience to Congress to tackle wildfires and the devastation it can bring to our communities. His approach to climate action and reducing our carbon footprint will be unlike any other, as he firmly believes we can't solve climate change without solving wildfires and climatic extremes first. He also served as Vice Chair of the Regional Water Quality Control Board, where he enforced the Clean Water Act, held serial polluters accountable, and protected drinking water for more than eight million residents.
