CANDIDATE BACKGROUND 

Maria Beltran is running to represent the newly drawn 14th Legislative District in the Washington State Senate. She is a first generation Washingtonian, born and raised in Yakima. Maria is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants. Her parents are union members and agricultural workers who taught her the values of community, hard work, and perseverance. She has devoted her career to community organizing and public advocacy. Maria is running for State Senate to ensure everyone has access to clean air and drinkable water. She supports efforts to grow our clean energy economy, address environmental justice and climate change. If elected, she would be the first Democratic Latina Senator from Eastern Washington.
