CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
LaMonica McIver is running for a full first term to represent New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. In September, she won a special election to represent this district. As a former member of the Newark City Council she focused on protecting clean water for her constituents, including replacing over 18,000 lead lines. McIver noted they did this without federal funding, and she helped host Vice President Kamala Harris in Newark two years ago to showcase what the city had done to protect drinking water. She has also worked to build more resilient and sustainable infrastructure and to prepare the city for the impacts of climate change and has promised to build on the investments in the Inflation Reduction Act.
