CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Jessica Morse is running to represent California’s 3rd Congressional District. A win would help flip the U.S. House of Representatives. As Advisor to the Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, Morse strengthened the U.S.-India defense relationship using renewable energy and worked to counter terrorist threats in South Asia. She spent over a year in Baghdad with USAID at the height of the war, serving side-by-side with our troops, and worked in Ethiopia, Nepal, Myanmar, and India promoting global stability.

In 2019 Morse was appointed Deputy Secretary for Forest and Wildland Resilience at the California Natural Resources Agency, working on the frontline of California’s wildfire crisis and fast-tracking wildfire prevention efforts. In 2022, Jessica was appointed to the U.S. Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission, helping develop recommendations and strategies to reshape national wildfire policies. Morse grew up hiking, fishing, and hunting with her family throughout Northern California. An avid backpacker, she has hiked the entire length of California’s 4th district - 500 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from North of Tahoe to Mt. Whitney. In Congress, she will fight to protect California’s clean water and public lands, and invest in clean energy to address climate change.
