CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Dan Helmer is running for reelection to represent the 10th District in the Virginia House of Delegates. He is a West Point graduate, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, a Rhodes Scholar, and a small business owner. He brings his commitment to service and leadership to Virginia’s House of Delegates, ensuring that the Commonwealth remains a stronghold of democracy. The son of an immigrant and the grandson of refugees who survived the Holocaust, Dan Helmer believes that patriotism means taking on the hard challenges of our time and putting country and community ahead of partisan politics. As Campaigns Chair for the House Democratic Caucus, Dan Helmer is leading the fight to hold and expand the slim majority in the House of Delegates.
