CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Chelsea Johnson is running for Lancaster County Commissioner, District 4. She grew up on the family farm in rural Nemaha County, Nebraska. After graduating from Johnson-Brock Public Schools Chelsea moved to Lincoln and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a degree in Political Science.

Chelsea worked as a Community & Economic Development specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture, and has worked as the Deputy Director of Conservation Nebraska since 2014. In this role, Chelsea launched the Common Ground Program and has focused on bringing people together around clean air and clean water.

Chelsea was elected to the Lower Platte South NRD Board in 2016 and is currently serving as Treasurer. She was appointed to the Lincoln Electric System Board in 2021. In both of these roles, Chelsea has focused on keeping costs low while making sure that we are providing critical services and preparing for the future.
