Teresa Leger Fernandez

Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez is running for a third term to represent New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District. Leger Fernandez was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She worked for 30 years at Leger Law and Strategy, LLC as counsel for tribes and their business entities, as well with community leaders on affordable housing, civil rights, and community development. In this role, she lobbied in support of community solar and environmental reform. Leger Fernandez also worked as Commissioner of Las Acequias de Chupadero, where she successfully defeated a developer’s attempt to take the acequias’ water out of the Chupadero valley. She was later appointed a White House Fellow by President Clinton and Vice Chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation by President Obama. Representative Leger Fernandez has earned an impressive lifetime score of 100% on LCV's National Environmental Scorecard
