CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Troy Jackson is running to represent Maine in the U.S. Senate. He is a fifth-generation logger and longtime Maine State legislator, having served in both the State House and State Senate. During his tenure, he earned an 81% lifetime score on Main Conservation Voter's (MCV) Environmental Scorecard and was named by MCV as an outgoing champion at the end of his term in 2024. 

In the State Senate, he served as Senate majority leader where he helped ensure the state’s landmark climate bills passed and that the clean energy provisions were tied to strong labor standards. In 2021, he was the lead sponsor of a bill banning the aerial spraying of glyphosate. During his gubernatorial campaign, he launched an energy plan that included making Maine’s grid more reliable, and further investing in affordable and clean energy sources.
