Candidate Background

Representative Suzan DelBene is running for a seventh term to represent Washington’s 1st congressional district. DelBene previously served as the state Revenue Director and as an executive in the tech industry. She has successfully worked to expand funding for clean energy research, helped introduce a bill to ban offshore drilling off the West Coast, and co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect wildlife. DelBene has been a strong advocate for public lands and Washington’s outdoor economy. She helped lead efforts to expand protections for the San Juan Islands, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and Illabot Creek. DelBene helped draft the GREEN Act, which was included in the Build Back Better Act in 2021.. In Congress, DelBene will continue to be an advocate for clean energy and conservation efforts. Representative DelBene has earned a 96% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. Representative DelBene is endorsed by LCV Action Fund.
