CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Sherrod Brown is running to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate. He formerly served Ohio in the Senate for three terms. Prior to the Senate, Sherrod Brown previously served as Ohio Secretary of State, in the U.S. House, and in the state House. Senator Brown has taken a leadership role on comprehensive clean energy and climate change legislation that protects manufacturing jobs and the Great Lakes. In 2023, he helped write and pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) which helped fund $30 million dollars for restoration projects in communities around the Great Lakes. In the 2018 Farm Bill, Brown secured provisions in the 2018 Farm bill from his Give Our Resources the Opportunity to Work (GROW) Act, which will better utilize existing federal conservation programs to protect waterways and expand access to quality farmland. In the Senate, Sherrod Brown will advocate for offshore wind development in Ohio. Sherrod Brown has earned a 94% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
