CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Sarah Kelly Elfreth is running for a second term to represent Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is a former Maryland State Senator where she was an advocate for Maryland’s communities and protecting the Chesapeake Bay for over five years. In 2018, she made history by becoming the youngest woman ever elected to the State Senate in Maryland history.
In the state Senate, she worked to increase the oyster population, invest in clean energy jobs, protect Maryland’s communities from flooding and rising sea levels, and encourage private sector investment in restoring the Bay. In Congress, she will continue to fight for climate justice, speed our transition to clean energy, help communities become more resilient to climate change, and to protect the Bay and its watershed.
