Candidate Background

Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi is running for a fifth term to represent Illinois’s 8th Congressional District. Krishnamoorthi previously served as Special Assistant Attorney General, Deputy State Treasurer, and as president of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc., a small business in the Chicago area that develops products in the national security and renewable energy industries. He is also a co-founder of InSPIRE, a non-profit organization that provides training in solar technology to inner-city students and veterans. In 2018, he founded the bipartisan Congressional Solar Caucus to raise awareness for how policymakers, business leaders, and academic experts can work together to foster jobs, growth, and America’s leadership in the solar industry. In Congress, Krishnamoorthi will continue to leverage this private-sector experience to help shape clean energy policy and address climate change. Representative Krishnamoorthi has earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
