CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Noah Hood is running for reelection to the Michigan Supreme Court. He earned his law degree from Harvard Law School and began his career practicing commercial litigation in Detroit. He then joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Toledo, where he prosecuted complex federal cases including fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and crimes against children.

In 2019, Hood was appointed to the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Detroit, one of the busiest trial courts in the country, where he presided over high-volume criminal dockets and handled serious felony trials. During his tenure, he also presided over the Veterans Treatment Court, a problem-solving court for justice-involved veterans. His experience on the bench shaped his belief that justice must be both efficient and fair, ensuring that every case receives careful attention.

In 2022, he was appointed to the Michigan Court of Appeals. There, he authored numerous opinions on nearly every aspect of Michigan law, including search-and-seizure, the Confrontation Clause, juvenile justice, family law, zoning law, construction law, and no-fault.

Today, he continues his service on Michigan’s highest court, bringing a deep respect for the law, a commitment to thoughtful judicial decision-making, and a lifelong dedication to the people of Michigan.
