CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Megan Cavanagh is running for reelection to the Michigan Supreme Court. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in environmental engineering, Megan worked as a consultant evaluating environmental risk and property development before discovering her true calling in the law. For more than 15 years, she practiced appellate law in Detroit, earning respect across the legal community for her sharp analysis and commitment to fairness.
She was elected to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2018, and has championed a justice system that is accessible, transparent, and centered on people. She has led efforts to improve child welfare outcomes, strengthen legal representation for families, collaborate with tribal courts, and ensure that courts serve every community with fairness and dignity.
