CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Judy Schwiebert has spent her life in the community she has now represented in the Arizona State House since 2020. It’s where she raised her two sons, taught for 27 years at Cactus & Greenway High Schools, co-founded Theater Works, later co-founded a local Indivisible group, and directed a wellness center at her church, Shadow Rock UCC, and taught yoga and volunteered as a 2nd grader reader in her local Title 1 school. She knows and shares the priorities of her district. She ran for office because it broke her heart that one in three students in Arizona state no longer has a permanent qualified teacher because the legislature’s investment in public education ranks at the bottom of the nation. She is passionate about creating common sense solutions to ensure that every Arizonan gets their chance to thrive. That means investing in our public schools, addressing Arizona’s affordable healthcare, housing, water, and climate crises, creating good-paying jobs, and protecting the fundamental freedoms to vote as well as to make our own most personal family planning decisions.
