Candidate Background

Representative Josh Harder is running for a fourth term to represent California’s 9th congressional district. After college, Harder helped organize small farmers in Kenya and Uganda while working with the Gates Foundation and other nonprofits. After business school, he worked at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he worked with small businesses to help them grow and create jobs. He currently teaches business at Modesto Junior College. Harder is a clean water champion and has fought for increased federal funding to target droughts in California and works with local experts to support climate policies. In Congress, Harder will fight for clean air, a sustainable water future for the Central Valley, and clean energy investments. Representative Harder has earned a stellar lifetime score of 98% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
