CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Johnny Olszewski is running for a second term to represent Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. This is an open seat being left vacant by Retiring Representative Dutch Ruppersberger. Johnny Olszewski was born and raised in Baltimore County, and started his career by serving his community teaching civics in Baltimore County Public Schools for seven years. When he saw firsthand the challenges that our students and community face, Johnny decided to run for public office.
As County Executive, Johnny has led bold and transformative change for creating a better and more progressive Baltimore County that leads in sustainability. He issued an Executive Order requiring all newly constructed County facilities or major renovations to be completed in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standard or higher. He is also committed to defending our democracy and the right to vote, and fighting to restore transparency and accountability in our government.
