CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Jamie Raskin is running for a sixth term to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Before taking office in January of 2017, he had been a professor of constitutional law and the First Amendment for a quarter-century at American University’s Washington College of Law, where he authored several books and launched the acclaimed Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. In 2006, he ran for State Senate in District 20.
In Congress, he has supported a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to slow climate change while investing in alternative clean energy technologies like solar and wind power. Representative Raskin has earned a stellar lifetime score of 99% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
