CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Jahana Hayes is running for a fourth term to represent Connecticut’s 5th congressional district. Hayes grew up in Waterbury and is a lifelong Connecticut resident. She was a social studies teacher and won the 2016 National Teacher of the Year Award. Hayes currently serves as the Talent and Professional Development Supervisor for Waterbury Public Schools.
