Representative Hakeem Jeffries is running for a sixth term to represent New York’s 8th Congressional District. Jeffries previously served in the state Assembly. While there, he had a near-perfect voting record on environmental issues and led efforts to protect children from hazardous and dangerous toys. As a Congressman, he introduced legislation that would study the feasibility of designating the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park as part of the National Parks System. In Congress, Jeffries will continue to prioritize environmental justice issues. Representative Jeffries has a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
