CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Gabe Amo is running to represent Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Amo won a special election in November 2023. Amo has spent his career in public service, including working for a number of climate champions, including Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and former Governor and current Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. On the campaign trail, he has made fighting climate change one of his top priorities. He understands that Rhode Island’s coasts, rivers and waterways are the backbone of the state’s economy and is committed to swift and equitable implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act to address climate change and create clean energy jobs. Representative Amo has earned a 100% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. Representative Amo is endorsed by LCV Action Fund.
