CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Brad Sherman is running for a 16th term to represent California’s 32nd Congressional District. Sherman previously served on the state Board of Equalization. Throughout his career, he has been a leader in promoting hybrid cars and improved fuel economy standards. Sherman has worked to protect California’s coast from offshore drilling and hold Big Oil accountable for their pollution. He has been an advocate for California’s public lands and the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Sherman has worked on expanding protections for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and supported efforts to protect the San Gabriel Mountains. During his tenure in Congress, he cosponsored the Green New Deal,  the Climate Emergency Act to require the President to declare a national climate emergency and take further steps to quell the climate crisis, the West Coast Ocean Protection Act, and the Water Recycling Investment and Improvement Act in order to increase federal funding for critical water reuse and recycling efforts. In Congress, Sherman will continue to advance fuel economy standards, hold Big Oil accountable and protect California’s public lands. Representative Sherman has earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
