CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Adam Schiff is running to represent California in the U.S. Senate. He currently represents California's 30th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Schiff previously served in the state Senate and as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office. A member of the Safe Climate Caucus, he has been a longtime advocate of an Apollo Project-like investment in clean energy and combating climate change. Schiff has been a strong supporter of green technology, preserving the EPA’s authority to protect our air, land and water, addressing urban air pollution, and protecting California’s coast from offshore drilling.

Schiff is an original cosponsor of the Green New Deal and supports taking unprecedented action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, end the use of fossil fuels (including ending subsidies to fossil fuel companies), protect our air and water, and invest in a green economy. He also supports the establishment of a Civilian Climate Corps, which would create millions of new jobs dedicated to fighting climate change and protecting earth’s natural beauty and resources. In Congress, Schiff has been a champion for increasing protections for public lands in southern California.
