OUR DETAILED CANDIDATE CRITERIA

• To appear on GiveGreen, a viable candidate must complete the GiveGreen survey and:
  • Maintain at least an 85% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard or the state league’s Scorecard, if applicable, or at least 85% score the previous 2 years;
  • Support strong and immediate action to address the climate crisis.
     
• Additionally, candidates will be excluded from GiveGreen:
  • If it comes to light that the candidate has engaged in criminal or other unethical or inappropriate conduct;
  • If the candidate takes action to actively undermine the health of American democracy;
  • In most cases, if they are challenging an incumbent climate champion.

*Note: We may make very limited exceptions to the lifetime score requirement for candidates who have shown significant, recent progress in their stances on climate change, environmental protection, public health, and American democracy.
