Low Carbon Fuels and Environmental Justice: New Frontiers for Our Clean Energy Future

Wednesday September 23rd | 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm PT

Join Ray Mabus, Navy Secretary for President Obama and the Washington State chapter of Clean Energy for Biden for a special event and fundraiser
The transportation sector is the second-largest contributor to CO2 emissions, so any strategy to address climate change must include a role for low-carbon fuels. But we also can’t lose sight of the fact that fossil fuels produce harmful pollution which is often concentrated in low-income areas of cities, creating human health problems and making emissions reduction also an environmental justice issue.
Moderated by Jessica Finn Coven and Edie Gilliss, two climate and sustainability leaders in Seattle, this event will feature a conversation with government leaders along with health and private sector champions of renewable and low-carbon fuels on strategies for reducing emissions and pollution from the transportation sector:

Panelists include:
Ray Mabus, Secretary of the Navy under President Obama
Natalie Merrill, Vice President, Business Development and Optimization for Renewable Energy Group
Dr. Kristina Soman-Faulkner, CEO of ec0mission, Member Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility
Joe Fitzgibbon, Washington State Representative

Conversation moderated by Jessica Finn Coven and Edie Gilliss, climate and sustainability leaders in Seattle
