Representative Debbie Dingell is running for a fifth term to represent Michigan’s 6th Congressional District.  Before her election to Congress, Dingell served as a senior executive at General Motors and chair of the Wayne State University Board of Governors.  As a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee and Committee on Natural Resources, she has advocated for the Great Lakes, funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund and protecting public lands.  In an effort to create incentives for innovation in the auto industry, Dingell has introduced legislation that would promote fuel efficiency and alternative fuels.  She has also voted in support of cutting carbon pollution and strengthening the Clean Water Act, and offered an amendment to the FY2017 budget resolution that would designate $457.5 million in emergency funding for Flint in 2016 to address the water crisis.  Along with Representative Candice Miller, she has called on the State Department to extend the public comment period for Plains LPG Services’ proposed use of pipelines under the St. Clair and Detroit Rivers, and has pushed the state Department of Environmental Quality to finalize stricter cleanup standards for dioxane pollution.  She is a co-chair of the Great Lakes Task Force and is one of the six lead co-sponsors of the 100% Clean Economy Act of 2019. Representative Dingell earned an outstanding 98%  lifetime score on LCV's National Environmental Scorecard.
