Ben Ray Luján

Ben Ray Luján is currently serving his first term to represent New Mexico in the U.S. Senate.  He is currently serving his sixth term representing the 3rd Congressional District and is the Assistant Speaker, the fourth-highest ranking Democrat in the U.S. House. Luján previously served as Chair of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, where he worked to create a renewable portfolio standard and expand clean energy production. A member of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ Task Force on Green Economy and Renewable Energy, he has introduced numerous pieces of legislation that would promote solar energy and provide job training for clean energy jobs. In Congress, Luján will continue fighting to protect public lands in New Mexico, including the Rio Grande Del Norte National Conservation Area. Ben Ray Luján has earned a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
