CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Katrina Christiansen is running to represent North Dakota in the U.S. Senate. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Biological Systems Engineering and later a PhD in Agricultural Engineering. She is passionate about agriculture and energy, two of North Dakota's largest economic sectors.
Katrina Christiansen is running on a platform of addressing climate change, advancing environmental justice, and protecting democracy. As an agricultural engineer, she understands the importance of these issues and how they impact our national security and economy. She knows that the impacts of extreme weather events and long-term climate changes can devastate industries, disrupt supply chains, and strain resources all while disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities in North Dakota.
In the Senate, she will focus on investing in the transition to a clean energy economy, protecting and expanding voting rights, combating voter suppression, opposing gerrymandering, and fighting for campaign finance reform.
