Representative Xochitl Torres Small is running for a second term to represent New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District. Xochitl Torres Small was raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After earning her undergraduate degree, she returned home to New Mexico to work on the U.S. Senate campaign of then-U.S. Representative Tom Udall. When Udall was elected, Torres Small became a field representative in his southern New Mexico regional office, working on water conservation issues, bringing together environmentalists, farmers and local governments to work to protect clean water. Because of this experience, she studied natural resource and conservation law at the University of New Mexico, and currently specializes in water rights issues. One of her top priorities is to work to halt the drastic effects of climate change. Representative Torres Small is endorsed by LCV Action Fund.
